CIG Sponsors Junior Golf Tour Summer 2011 Issue

New to the golf scene in Northern California in 2011 is the Junior Tour of Northern California. The JTNC includes 17 tournaments in 16 Northern California cities, running from mid-March through the end of October.

The idea is to offer competitions all over Northern California so juniors in every region will have an opportunity to play. All events are two-day, 36-hole competitions hosted by some of the finest golf facilities in the region. Unlike most junior golf tournaments, the JTNC events flight participants by ability using their handicap index, not their age. The spring and fall schedules offer multiple weekend competitions and, when school's out, summer events are during the week.

The JTNC is administered through a collaborative effort between the Northern California Golf Association and the Northern California PGA. Both the NCGA and the NCPGA hosted junior events of their own in the past. When Capital Insurance Group stepped up to be the presenting sponsor, it made sense to combine the programs into one.

Early indications are that the JTNC is off to a great start with both players and parents giving praise as to how the events are put on, the terrific host facilities, and the great competition.
