Capital Insurance Group and The Protector Network Host Community Safety Saturday Summer 2010 Issue
On April 24, 2010, CIG Central Valley Insurance Agency teamed up with the California Highway Patrol, the Visalia Police Department, and Z104.9 FM to host the first-ever Community Safety Saturday. This free event, aimed at raising awareness of child automobile safety, attracted more than 100 Central Valley residents.
The goal, in keeping with CIG's company philosophy, was to build a relationship with, and assume its responsibility to, the local neighborhood. "I can't help but think that we might have actually prevented future injury to at least one of the precious children of this community - and that makes it all worth it," exclaimed Central Valley Insurance Advisor Dee Dean.
To accomplish this, CIG teamed up with the California Highway Patrol. The CHP established a child-safety-seat check where Public Affairs Officer Scott Harris could inspect child-safety and booster seats and instruct parents on the proper usage of these lifesaving restraints. Despite states' efforts to educate the public, an astonishing number of parents still put their children at risk with improperly installed or broken car seats.
Since child safety was the goal, officers from the Visalia Police Department set up a booth to create photo ID cards for the children and give away fingerprinting kits. In addition, children received free family-activities books.
"This was a great event," said Visalia Police Department Crime Prevention Coordinator Angie de Alba. "We were able to give good information out about child safety, family safety, identity theft, and teen dating."
"This was the first of many community events we'll host with The Protector Network and Capital Insurance Group," said Phil Oliver of Central Valley Insurance Agency.
The event was as unique as its co-sponsor, The Protector Network, a first-of-its-kind safety, security, and savings benefits program. All CIG clients receive a complimentary membership in The Protector Network, which provides services, tools, and products to help protect families, homes, autos, and businesses.
"As an insurance advisor, one of the most rewarding experiences is to know our policy clients are safe and secure - well-protected for those worst-case scenarios," commented Scott Bosler of CIG Central Valley. "We would like nothing more than for everyone in our community to be safe and secure."
